Holaluz is an energy transition company created to be a tool for global change and to achieve a world that moves 100% with green energy. Holaluz proposes a structural change: transforming the current energy generation model -centralized and non-renewable- towards a new model with more weight of distributed generation and 100% green.
Based on a unique strategy of two businesses -- the installation of solar panels and energy management -- and with the vision of creating the largest green energy community in Europe, Holaluz is building a green ecosystem in homes by transforming m2 of rooftops into 100% renewable electricity producers and optimizing the efficiency of its installations through flexible assets such as EV chargers and batteries. A sustainable, cheaper way for everyone to meet the growing electrification of demand.
Holaluz's purpose is centered on the planet and people. The people in the team can develop holistically, with flexibility, autonomy, and parity at all levels of decision-making. All this, together with a business model of genuine impact and an ESG DNA, have made Holaluz the first European electricity company to receive B Corp certification
Decarbonization linked to our operations
In 2023, Holaluz set science-based emission reduction targets to achieve net-zero before EU deadlines, seeking validation from SBTi. Joining the UN's Business Ambition for 1.5°C in 2022 underlines its commitment to limit global warming, aligning CO2 goals with SBTi's rigorous framework.
In the short term, by 2030, Holaluz has established the following reduction targets:
● 42% reduction in Scope 1 and 2 emissions (direct emissions)
● 51.6% reduction in emissions related to electricity commercialization (Scope 3)
● 99% reduction in natural gas commercialization (Scope 3)
● 42% reduction in other indirect emissions, mainly from solar equipment (Scope 3)
To achieve these commitments, the company has outlined a Climate Action Plan with the firm purpose of decarbonizing its activities, using 2022 as the base year when the carbon footprint was calculated according to the GHG Protocol.
Decarbonization Action Plan
The Climate Action Plan consists of 9 actions in 4 categories, detailed below:
1. Supply Chain
- Reduction of GHG emissions from marketed products and services
2. Energy
- Optimization of the environmental impact of the marketed energy mix
- Reduction of marketed fossil origin energy
3. Mobility
- Electrification of the vehicle fleet
- Optimization of routes
- Reduction of emissions from commuting to work
4. Waste
- Reduction of waste generated in offices and warehouses
- Optimization of valorized waste from solar panel facilities
All the details regarding Holaluz's environmental impact will be published in our integrated report 2023 next April 2024.
